The Audiowerkstatt din-restarter v2 allows the synchronous start / stop of a DIN slave sequencer during the running clock. For operation the device is connected to the DIN master device (groovebox, drum machine...), a first pressing of the red button stops the connected slave device with expiration of the 16th step; pressing the red button again starts the slave device synchronously to the new "1". The din-restarter v2 works either with Sync24 or Sync48, the latter is necessary for older Korg instruments of the KPR and DDM series, for example; most other instruments (e.g. Roland TB/TR) run with Sync24.
Restarting (resynchronizing) a DIN slave instrument in "running mode" is often useful when a pattern or bank change forces a stop, an incorrectly set loop point causes offbeats or another musician joins the live session later. You can also use the din-restarter v2 wonderfully for an arc of tension by simply taking out the whole drum machine for the break and restarting it at the appropriate moment.
