Restaurant design in China is often enriched by the history of China; it distills and abstracts the stylistics of design into a philosophy, from which the interior design is generated. Such interiors are often accompanied by antiques, Chinese paintings, or may allude to other elements in Chinese design. This approach requires a deep understanding of cultural history as its foundation. Design should be individual, logical, and honest, allowing designers to express their lineage and environment. In the case of China, designers convey a deep sense of understanding of traditional components such as form, colour, proportion, and essence, recombining them to create an environment where the traditional and contemporary coexist.
