California pianist/composer Nico Georis has been gaining attention for his unique sound making using the "Plant Wave", a device that allows plants to play music. In Cloud Suites, the songs are conceptually clouds, or reflections of clouds, and each song is named after a particular formation. Track titles range from the meteorologically specific to the expressive, including "Cumuloids," "Sundog," and "Soft Yellow Gazers.Geolis composed in real time by looking out the window of his home and recording studio (named SkyShed) in Big Sur and translating specific clouds into music. In effect, he was plucking clouds from the sky. He describes the process as a kind of musical game, and communicates that what resulted was a joyous discovery repeated in play.
